We are pleased to announce that with the support of The National Lottery Community Fund our Building Stronger Communities project will be continuing for a further two years. Our work will focus on bringing communities together and empowering them with the skills to overcome a rising tide of discrimination and prejudice. We are keen to build resilience within the communities most affected by hate so that they are empowered to be part of the solution in addressing the decline of community cohesion that some parts of Nottingham have seen over the last few years.ears.
We will do this by:
- Increasing the ability of communities to challenge/dispel common myths and stereotypes that perpetuate hate and hostility. This will include challenging negative stereotypes and narratives perpetuated by far-right groups.
- Supporting communities to be more proactive and respond better and earlier to hate incidents through more bystander interventions, leading to increased reporting and better support for victims.
- Creating opportunities for strengthening and promoting community cohesion and awareness of hate crimes through dialogues/exchange visits/ and the production of resources
As part of this project, we will be offering hate crime and bystander interventions training. If you are interested in this for your staff and volunteers then please email firstname.lastname@example.org
