Communities Inc is pleased to have supported Nottinghamshire Pride this year as part of our commitment to work and support diverse communities. Nottinghamshire Pride took place on the 26th of July in Hockley where dozens of stall holders (including us and Victim Support) provided information, refreshments and an array of crafts and handmade goods. We were promoting our Hate Crime: Communities in Control project which seeks to make reporting hate crime easier.
As LGBT communities are often victims of hate crime, Communities Inc distributed material containing useful information about what hate crime is and more importantly, where people can report it and get further help. Hate Crime: Communities in Control is a project developed in 2013 in partnership with and funded by the Nottinghamshire Police and the Crime Commissioners Office. The project aims to strengthen and increase hate crime reporting mechanisms through community based organisations and will soon enter its 2nd phase where we will work with larger voluntary sector organisations as well as specific areas in the county.
