National Bystander Awareness Day Celebration

With poetry from Bridie Squires and Shreya Sen Handley

Fri 13 March 2020, 5.30-8pm

38 Carrington Street, Nottingham

On March 13, we celebrate National Bystander Awareness Day (#NBAD)  – a day that unites people to tackle hate and hostility. We want to raise awareness of ways that you can help people who are made victims of hate.

This year’s event features a combination of prominent speakers and brilliant local writers including:

Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping and Councillor Rebecca Langton – discussing what’s being done to tackle hate in the city.

Marwa Soliman, a Bystander Intervention Ambassador (recently featured in the Nottingham Post), on her journey to becoming an Ambassador for our Stand by Me project.

Local writers Shreya Sen Handley and Bridie Squires, reading poems they have written especially for NBAD, as well as some of their other recent fiction and poetry.

Erin Devitt from Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid will talk about Stand by Her project.

Doors open at 5.30pm and the event runs 6-8pm.

Refreshments will be provided.
