Sharing the Load 5: Vaccine hesitancy in the BAME community

Vaccine Hesitancy in the BAME community - 31 March at 11am

Location: Online via Zoom

Date: Wed 31st Mar

Time: 11am – 12.15pm

Join us for the fifth ‘Sharing the Load’: Our series of dialogues addressing important issues affecting our communities during the pandemic. This is possibly our most crucial dialogue so far, as it addresses the reasons for a low uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine among members of the BAME community.

For this discussion, we will bring three speakers together, to address the arguments for and against having the vaccine. This will be followed by an open discussion.

Our speakers include:

Faith Gakanje – a local social entrepreneur and community activist. Faith will share with us the concerns of the BAME community in which she works.

Dr Bob Gill – a national campaigner on health equality. Dr Gill will focus on the bigger picture concerning the BAME community and vaccine take up.

Dr Arshad Latif – who will showcase his work in Nottingham to challenge myths and to bring the distribution of the vaccine into the heart of the BAME community.
