Positive Exposure

Promoting British Values and Challenging Harmful Stereotypes

Exploring British Values in a Diverse Society

Positive Exposure is a community project that promotes British values while challenging negative stereotypes about minority communities in the UK. Britain has a long history of diversity that has shaped our culture, economy and shared identity. From food and music to healthcare, education and local businesses, diverse communities have played a vital role in building modern Britain. Despite this, recent political and social shifts, particularly following Brexit, have seen some far-right groups exploit economic uncertainty and social change. Immigration, migrant workers and Muslim communities are often blamed for wider structural issues, with British values used as a tool to divide rather than unite.

Far right messaging often targets people who feel excluded, overlooked or frustrated by social and economic pressures. These narratives offer simple explanations for complex problems, positioning minority communities as the cause.

Our work focused on:

Positive Exposure challenged harmful narratives by offering fact-based discussion, lived experience and critical thinking skills to help people recognise and question misinformation.

Promoting shared values such as fairness, respect, freedom and responsibility

Challenging misinformation spread by far right and extremist groups

Addressing myths around immigration, Islam and national identity
